An AML AI agent automates the AML investigation workflow. When a transaction monitoring system generates an alert, the AML AI agent: assembles the full customer investigation context from connected systems (30 seconds vs 20–30 minutes manually), analyses transaction patterns for AML typologies (structuring, cycling, geographic concentration), screens the customer and related parties against sanctions and PEP lists, searches adverse media, and drafts an investigation summary with a recommended disposition. The compliance analyst reviews the AI-drafted summary, makes amendments, and approves the disposition. SAR/STR forms are pre-filled from the case data for filing. The goal is to reduce investigation time from 2–8 hours per alert to under 30 minutes.
India's PMLA 2002 (amended 2023) requires financial institutions to: maintain STR/CTR records, file with FIU-IND within prescribed timelines, conduct risk-based CDD, and maintain KYC records for prescribed periods. XPndAI's AML agent supports each requirement: FIU-IND STR/CTR formats pre-filled and routed for compliance sign-off before submission; investigation records maintained with tamper-evident logs for RBI inspection; KYC completeness checks at investigation time; risk-tier classification output. The agent does not make autonomous filing decisions — every SAR/STR is reviewed and approved by a compliance officer before submission.
Yes — the AML AI agent supplements your TMS, not replaces it. The TMS continues to generate alerts using your existing rule sets and models. The AI agent connects to the TMS via API to receive alerts and push investigation outcomes back. If your TMS does not have an alert API, batch file integration is also supported. The agent connects separately to your core banking system for transaction history and to sanctions/PEP APIs for screening. It does not require your TMS to be replaced or upgraded — this is designed to be a layer on top of existing infrastructure.
An AML AI agent (this page) handles the investigation workflow layer — taking alerts from an existing TMS and automating the investigation process. An AML platform (enterprise-grade) includes the full stack: transaction monitoring rule engine, alert generation, investigation workflow, case management, regulatory reporting, and management dashboards — for large banks wanting to replace or consolidate their AML tooling rather than supplement it. XPndAI builds both. The AML AI agent is appropriate for fintechs, NBFCs, and smaller financial institutions. The enterprise AML/financial crime platform is for banks and large regulated entities. See our Financial Crime AI Platform page for the enterprise build.
